To date, CARE has funded hundreds of thousands of dollars for research regarding the habitat on California’s offshore oil platforms by Dr. Milton Love of the University of California Santa Barbara Marine Science Institute and Dr. Chris Lowe of California State University, Long Beach. CARE also sponsors dive events featuring live video as qualified professional divers explore the platforms, to allow people to view the thriving artificial reef marine ecosystems first hand and symposiums that bring together legislators, regulators, scientists, marine experts, dive enthusiasts, and the media to discuss these critical issues.
